law of idghom In tajwid (the rules of reciting the Qur’an), idgham literally means to insert or merge. According to tajwid terminology, idgham is a rule of recitation in which a silent letter (sukun) meets a similar vowel or one that is close in makhraj (place of articulation) and nature, so that the two letters merge into one letter with a tasydid (as if the second letter is pronounced twice).
